Joseph "Joe" Arthur White
The death of Joseph Arthur White of Saint John, beloved husband of 56 years to Dolores Elaine (Slaunwhite) White occurred on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on May 19, 1940 in Joggins NS, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Georgina (Blondeau) White.
Joe joined the Canadian Armed Forces in May of 1957, where he was stationed with the Canadian Guards in Petawawa, ON and later with the RCR in Gagetown, NB. He retired from the military in 1982 after serving 25 years, then later worked at Saint John Shipbuilding and finally, along with Dolores, became owner operator of the Bulls Creek Irving Big Stop in Woodstock, NB.
Joe was the proud father of four sons who spent many cold hours with them at several hockey rinks (all in one day at times). He also enjoyed taking them on family swimming, fishing and camping trips. He loved watching the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs, playing golf, darts and visiting with family and friends.
In addition to his wife Dolores, Joe is also survived by sons, Bob (Joyce) of Saint John, Wayne (Anne Louise) of Rusagonis, Dion (Jean) of Saint John and Darren of Rusagonis. Also blessed with his loving grandchildren, Danielle, Jordan, Crystal, Bradley, Kyle, Jess, Justin, Gabe, Alex, Travis and Trevor; as well as great- granddaughter, Cyan. He also leaves behind his older sister, Eva Bourgeois (Edward) and big brother, Jimmy White (Marilyn), several nephews, nieces and cousins. Besides his mom and dad, he was also predeceased by brothers, Bill and Bobbie (in infancy).
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Monday, December 14, 2015 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM with a Legion Tribute beginning at 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 2:00 PM.
