Alice G Jeffrey

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Alice Gertrude Jeffrey at the St. Joseph Hospital on January 22, 2010. Born in Saint John on January 26, 1918, she was the only daughter of the late Frederick & Clara (Burns) Lee, Alice is survived by one son, James Jeffrey (Joyce) of Rothesay, NB; two daughters, Sandra Smith of Saint John and Heather Winters (Gary) or Quispamsis; six grandchildren, Gary Winters, Steven Smith, Lori Carr, Shari Smith, Chris Jeffrey and Jillian McNamee; twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; special niece, Joy Keith and several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Grace Lee.
Alice was predeceased by her husband, James Jeffrey, grandson, Scott Winters, son-in-law David Smith and four brothers, Lou, Norris, Malcolm and Thomas Lee.
Alice attended Portland United Church, an associate member of Portland Branch #64 Royal Canadian Legion, Martello Temple #25 Pythian Sisters, the North End Community Centre Seniors Group and was employed with Canada Packers for many years. All that knew Alice would say you never left her house hungry.
The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the amazing staff of the 7th floor St. Joseph’s Hospital for the dedicated and loving care Alice received on her last journey.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, 634-7424, with visiting on Sunday from 7-9 Pm and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 12:00 PM from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment to take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
