Dr. Ellen Mary Drewery
1929-2010
The death of Dr. Ellen Mary Drewery of Saint John, NB, occurred on
Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on
July 21, 1929 at Carshalton, Surrey, England, she was a daughter of
the late Herbert and Lucy Ellen (Shinn) Drewery. Dr. Ellen Drewery
lectured at UNBSJ in Social Criminology, received her B.A. and M.A.
from the University of Western Ontario and Doctorate of Education from
Boston University, served on the board of the Animal Rescue League,
John Howard Society, where she was Chairperson, and was involved in
various choirs and as a lector and cantor.
To honour her request there will be no funeral home visitation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated from Our Lady of the Assumption on September 25, 2010 at 10:00 am. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or Oxfam Canada 39 McArthur Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario K1L 8L7.
