Theresa Moore

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Theresa C. Moore on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a period of failing health. She was the daughter of the late Michael O’Keefe and Teresa (Murphy) O’Keefe and the wife of the late Charles R. Moore. Theresa was born in Montreal on March 22, 1925. Theresa’s family returned to their hometown of Saint John, NB., when she was 8. She attended St. Joseph’s School and was very proud to be an honour’s graduate of the class of 1942 of St.Vincent’s High School. She then attended Mount Carmel Academy. She began her career with the CNR in 1943 selling tickets at Union Station. It was at the C.N.R. that she met her husband Charlie. They were married in 1952 and spent many happy years together raising their family until his death in 1968. Theresa then returned to work at the CNR until her retirement in 1986. During her retirement, Theresa was very active in the CNR pensioners’ association and part of their bowling league. She was a member of the Saint John Ostomy Association. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and neighbors and she always had time for a coffee. Her strong Catholic faith and tenacity sustained her through the years and made her an inspiration to many. Her quick wit, sense of humour and generous heart will be greatly missed. She is survived by her loving children, John Moore and Aileen Moore of Saint John, Joanie and her husband Ronald (Tim) McCullum of Quispamsis and Susan Moore and her husband Steve Turner of Toronto. Theresa was a doting nana to her cherished grandsons Erik and Sean McCullum of Quispamsis. She is survived by her brothers and sisters in law, Mrs. Audrey Murphy (late Dr. Francis Murphy), Shirley Moore (late William Moore) both of Saint John and Donald and Theresa Moore of Sussex. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and their children. She will be especially missed by her late sister’s children, Michael (Dorlores) Doyle of Saint John, Kathleen (Ken) Boyer of Quispamsis, Patricia Helman of Akron, Ohio, and John (Louella) Doyle of Saint John. Besides her parents and husband, Theresa is predeceased by her sister Mary (late Charles) Doyle and her brother Jack (late Bernice) O’Keefe and her nephew Charles J. Doyle.

Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425) with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of the Assumption Church on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 10 AM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances may be made to Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation or Our Lady of the Assumption Building Fund.
