Patrick Joseph Mullett

Patrick Joseph Mullett of Saint John passed away on Monday, July 26, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital following a brief illness.  Born at Saint John on October 3, 1947, he was a son of Shirley (Wright) Mullett (Charles “Chuck” Saunders) and the late Frederick Joseph Mullett.

 

Pat was a well known softball player, coach, umpire, and team builder in the Saint John area, and was inducted into the New Brunswick Softball Hall of Fame.  He was an avid New York Yankees fan, and was a past member of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes.  For many years, he ran the Bull Pen Canteen at the Allison Grounds Ball Field.

 

In addition to his mother, Pat is survived by a daughter-in-law, Yolanda Mullett of Saint John; his granddaughter, Cassandra Mullett; his companion, Bessie Jacquard of Saint John; a step-son, Michael Mullett of Ontario; brothers and sisters Frederick Mullett (Sue) of Quispamsis,

Diane Kerr  (Doug) of Saint John, Donald Mullett (Norma) of Rothesay, Peter Mullett (Peggy) of Saint John, Paul Mullett (Rosanne) of Quispamsis, and Michael Mullett (Michele) of Saint John; and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his father, Pat was predeceased by a son, Gary Mullett; his first wife, Joanne; a sister, Holly Mullett; a sister-in-law, Jill Mullett; and a nephew, Dana Mullett.

 

Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday from 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church, 316 Somerset Street, Saint John, on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 11:00 AM.  Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.  For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family, in lieu of flowers.
