Evelyn Clair Townsend

The death of Evelyn C. (McCurdy) Townsend of Saint John, NB, wife of Gerald Townsend occurred on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at St. Stephen, NB, she was a daughter of the late Blair and Geraldine (Bridges) McCurdy. Evelyn was employed in the Income Tax Department with Revenue Canada. She was an active charter member of Forest Hills Baptist Church, participating in Women’s Missionary Group, Pioneer Girls, Senior Choir, Vacation Bible School and the Bus Ministry. Besides her husband she is survived by two sons: Andrew (Nicole) of Quispamsis, Mark of Red Deer; one daughter, Krista (David) Creaser of Baxter’s Corner; one sister, Willa Peacock of Fredericton; three grandchildren: Lauren Creaser, Amy Creaser and Elliott Townsend, nephew, Charles Peacock, grand niece, Melinda Hawkins.

Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 from Forest Hills Baptist Church at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the palliative care unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital and the Canadian Cancer Society.
