David and I (Dale) had an opportunity to share time together on a professional level and during the time that David was at UNB. Jim's passing impacts our lives because of our links with you over the years. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you as you have to adjust to a major change in your lives. Although there is a lot of 'could have been' thoughts when condiering Jim's,life, you must recognize that there has been a lot of great days that you shared with him. God bless Dale and Carol Bray

Dear Sonya, I am so very sorry to learn of Jims sudden passing. My deepest sympathy, prayers and thoughts are with you and you family during this very sad time. Take care your friend and colleague, Sue Peters
— Sue Peters

If you were put on Jimmy's team at the Capital Winter Club in the 80’s you were one lucky teenager. Jimmy’s approach to skipping was solidly calm and quiet and if you did what he asked, you’d be sure to go home with a trophy, and more often than not, a gym bag with a soft drink logo on it. But apart from the trappings of winning, the junior curler was privileged to observe a leader who led by example in every aspect of the sport. I recently rediscovered my news clippings from when the Sullivan rink was in Germany at the World Juniors. It brought back a flood of pride, excitement and happiness that someone I so admired had done so well. He will remain with me into my extra ends. Our sincere condolences to Jimmy’s family and friends.

— Philip Carleton

Dave, Carol, Evan, Sonya and the rest of the Sullivan family, I was shocked and saddened to hear the news. I have some great memories from the CWC and Jimmy. I always appreciated his support when we curled Mixed together. Jimmy had such a low-key nature for someone who had accomplished so much in the curling world. I think that was part of his appeal. It was refreshing, and at times humourous. I’ll miss him.
— Cathy Donald

I was deeply saddened to receive the news of Jim's passing. I have fond memories of Jim even from before kindergarten, which we attended together along with other children from our neighborhood. Even though our contact has been limited since I left Fredericton many years ago, I have been following from a distance his remarkable accomplishments. To all the Sullivan family and friends of Jim, please accept my sincere condolences.
— Geoffrey Reid

It was my privilege to be a part of Jr. Curling in NB at the same time that Jim & team brought home a National & World championship! He gave all of us the confidence to shoot for the stars! I was fortunate to have spent time curling mixed with him as we got older...and enjoyed becoming friends and discovering he was as nice as he was talented. I am just so sad to hear the tragic news. My sincere condolences to all of Jim's family and friends, may your happy memories provide you with some comfort. Cathy McEwen (formerly of Dalhousie NB)

Condolences to all members of the Sullivan family and his friends. It was my priviledge and good fortune to be associated with Jim, Brian, Evan and Karen as a teacher and coach at Albert. The Sullivan children were all motivated and committed to achieving success. They had outstanding support from their caring parents. Jim was an incredible athlete, student and a quiet unassuming leader who made a difference in the school. He was a special quality person who teachers and students admired. I was sad to hear of his death. He accomplished a great deal in his life and will be missed as well as respectfully remembered by all who knew him. Harold

I flew into Fton on Nov 5 as Dad had taken seriously ill. Monday morning I returned the car and then left with Mac Sue and the four Schieman (grand) children for a 12.5 hour drive back to Ottawa . It was while we were driving up the Saint John river that I got a text from Carol Duncan saying Jim's death had been on the news! Although I didn't know Jim well...his first impression was all one needed to know. David and I send our sincere prayers for all of you as you find your way towards a new "normal". It will never be the same. I lost my sister in an accident two years ago. One card that I received quoted Helen Keller. It was something like..."those who we have lost and loved dearly become a part of us". I find this to be true for me as our lives continue...forever changed....but determined to find the blessings in each day. So sorry for your loss and the pain that it brings. David and Nancy Delahunt

— Warren O'Donnell

I've just read many of the messages in tribute to the memory of Jim, and I echo all of their sentiments. He was such a good guy, a true gentlemen, a guy without pretense, and one hell of a great curler. I'll never forget the pride I felt being a Frederictonian and watching Jim and his rink do their thing at the Brier in Sault Ste. Marie. The streets of Fredericton were quiet because just about everybody was home watching the Sullivan rink do their thing. I remember writing a headline at the Gleaner that stated: You've got nerves of Steel, Jim Sullivan. He was such a class act, so much like you, Dave. I feel so much for you guys. Be comforted by his wonderful legacy and all the people he touched along the way. God Bless you all.
— David Ritchie

— Leslie and Bob Morrell

We are so terribly sorry for your loss. We of course met Jim on the curling circuit and he was so inspirational to our son, Ryan. He supported Ryan's team on at least two occasions by accepting invitations to be the "premier" guest speaker at fund-raising breakfasts at Riverside Curling Club. He was extremly helpful to Ryan by not only giving him instruction on-ice, but early in Ryan's career, beating him by a single point on many occasions when it could have been a blow-out. Jim often told me that he wishes he had saved a few points because he needed them as Ryan's talents matured. But win or lose against our son, Jim was always provided encouragement as I'm sure he realized that Ryan thoroughly admired him as the sportsman that he was. We will miss Jim. Our prayers and thoughts will be with you in the coming days as you search for the strength to overcome this loss in your life. May God bless. Keith & Susan Sherrard

Hi Sonya, I just wanted to share with you and the girls about Jim in the office. Jim started at Genesys a week before I did. We sat in the same area for awhile. He had a great sense of humour and many times was the willing brunt of a joke. I often teased him about coming to work for a rest from the curling schedule and he would roar when on Monday morning as there would be the play by play against Russ Howard. I took the picture of Jordan when the office teased that the water had been spiked. Six babies born that year! He was always singing your praises as a Mom and I joked with him about wanting to be a kept man. Nothing he liked better than to stay home and look after the girls. As Jamie got older we had talks about family dynamics and how it makes us who we are. He had a big heart and an even bigger smile.I know he said some silly things just to get us to lighten up. I know he was looking for help when he returned to work on the back to work program. He gave me the url to learn about what was going on. He made me smile, he made me laugh, he loved his family. He will be missed in the office. With sympathy, Alice Kennedy
