1924-2012
Ronald "Ronnie" Austin Bowes of Golden
Grove, NB, which occurred on Friday, February 03, 2012 at the Saint
John Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born on September 27,
1924 in Saint John he was a son of the late Edwin and Elizabeth
"Bessie" (Green) Bowes. Ronnie was a graduate of the
University of New Brunswick, a veteran of the Canadian Air Force and
worked most of his life at the Mater Misericordiae Home on Waterloo
Street. He loved history, literature and sports, had an amazing memory
and could recite many poems by heart. He is survived by his daughters,
Brenda MacDonald (Gerald) of New Glasgow, NS, and Neville Wissmann of
French Village, NB; grandchildren, Christopher MacDonald (Jyl), Alana
Cano (Ivan), Elke Bohdanowicz (Andrew) and John Wissmann (Julie);
great-grandson, Thomas Bohdanowicz and numerous nieces and nephews. He
was predeceased by four brothers, Allan, Richard "Dick",
John "Jack" and Edwin; one sister Irene.
By the request of the family there will be no visiting. A
funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 12:00 pm
from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel, 111
Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424). Interment
will take place in St. Patrick's Church Cemetery, French Village. For
those who wish, remembrances to the IWK Children’s Hospital
would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences and

While I was saddened to hear that Ronnie had passed, I am thankful that over the past year+ I was able to meet Ronnie. His wonderful stories and poetry were both entertaining and enlightening. My condolences to all of his family.
