Joanne Marie Sparks
1944-2012
The death of Joanne Sparks, wife
of the late Wilfred Sparks, formerly of Manchester Avenue occurred on
Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was
born on March 13, 1944 in Saint John, NB to the late Frederick and M.
Catherine (McCarron) Todd. Joanne graduated from Simonds High School
then attended St. Thomas University in the Miramichi for a year. She
entered training at the Department of Health Provincial Laboratory
which she graduated from in 1965 as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.
She mainly worked in the field of Hematology. Later in her career, she
taught Hematology at the New Brunswick School of Medical Laboratory
Technology.
She is survived by her brother, John Todd of Springfield;
sister-in-law, Anne Foley (Mark) of Saint John; niece, Tammy McCarthy
(Ken) of Perth, ON; nephews, Andrew Foley (Tracy Hanson) of Quispamsis
and Thomas Sparks (Angela Gilbert) of Maple Ridge, BC. She was
predeceased by her husband; parents; brother, Dr. Frederick
Todd.
Resting at Brenan's Bay View Funeral
Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425)
with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated from St. Rose of Lima Church, 541 Milford
Road on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in
Holy Cross Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Diabetes
Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, would be appreciated
by the family.

Very sad to hear of Joanne's passing. We are celebrating our 50th school re-union this week-end and her name has been mentioned many times in our planning. We knew she had been sick and in hospital. The timing of her death seems not to be at the right time. I have fond memories of Joanne through our school years. God works in mysterious ways!

Dear John and all the family,
My deepest sympathy on the death of your sister.
Since my retirement Joanne's and my paths crossed very occasionally and I only visited with her once in hospital and I regret that it was not more often.
I do have very fond memories of our working together at the lab and also visiting with her and your family at the mushroom farm. She was respected and loved by her peers and considered a valued professional and a wonderful, loyal person.
