Frederick "Fred" Willard Jarvis

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Frederick "Fred" Willard Jarvis, husband of Florence (Daigle) Jarvis, which occurred on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Bobby’s Hospice with his loving family at his side. Born in Saint John on November 4, 1932, he was a son of the late Willard and Stella (Radcliffe) Jarvis.

Fred worked for the City of Saint John for 19 years. In his younger years Fred loved to speed skate. He enjoyed dancing and ice fishing. Fred loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him so much joy. He was a member of Branch 69 of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Florence; six children, Roy Jarvis of Saint John; Blair Hachey (Brenda) of Bathurst; Betty-Ann Morrell (Wes) of Saint John; Mary Jane McManus (David Mersereau) of Saint John; David Grant of Calgary and Robert LeBlanc (Margaret) of Montreal; eight grandchildren, Brian, Chantal, Richard, Amber, Amy, Christina, Anthony and Jonathan; six great-grandchildren, Madison, Gabrielle, Allyson, Joshua, Brooke and Titus; four sisters, Eleanor Vautour of PEI; Shirley Horne of Saint John; Donna Justason (Neil) of Pennfield and Sharon Justason (Blair) of Westfield; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his great-granddaughter, Chloe McManus and son, Richard Grant.

Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A tribute to a veteran will be held on July 17, 2012 at 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to Bobby’s Hospice would be appreciated by the family.

Junior's passing leaves a strange emptiness in all of us who knew him as a boy. He was a kind and gentle soul as a boy and even more so, as a man. In that, Junior was much like his grandfather, also one of nature's rare human beings. He will be missed.
