1939-2012

Edwin Andrew "Ed" Reid

Edwin Andrew Reid of Saint John, husband of the late Constance M. (Brookins) Reid, passed away on July 31, 2012, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on March 1, 1939, he was a son of the late Hector and Rosemarie (Boyle) Reid. Edwin worked in Accounting for Saint John Shipbuilding for twenty-three years. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed baseball, hockey, playing pool, fishing, and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and Montreal Canadiens. Ed was a soft spoken, mild mannered man, and he was very devoted to his family.

He is survived by his daughter Karen (Kirk) Kingston of Saint John, brother Kenny (Linda) Reid of Quispamsis, sisters Muriel (Malcolm) Bates of Freeport, NS, Janet (Holly) Swan, Myrna (Sonny) Coy, both of Grand Bay-Westfield, brother-in-laws Jack (Sandra) Brookins and Ron Brookins, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Ed was pre-deceased by his brother Lou, and sister-in-law Mabel.

Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Friday at 10:00 am. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Kidney Foundation or the Organ Transplant Program at the Saint John Regional Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
