John "Ian" Shanks

1932-2012

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of John "Ian" Shanks of Saint John, husband of Esther (Laughland) Shanks, which occurred on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Glasgow, Scotland on March 22, 1932 he was a son of the late John S. and Annie L. (Irvine) Shanks.

Ian is survived by his wife, Esther; daughter, Jacqueline (Mark) Henneberry and son, John (Donna) Shanks; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild and his brother, Moore (Jean) Shanks. He was predeceased by his daughter, Barbara Anne Harwood.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). In keeping with Ian’s wishes there will be no formal visitation. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 11:00 am from Grace Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow in the church hall. For those who wish, remembrances to Grace Presbyterian Church or the Community Food Basket would be appreciated by the family.
