M. Joanne Owens

1956-2012

M. Joanne Owens

Mary "Joanne" Owens, wife of Michael Owens, died on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at her cottage in Codys, with her family at her side.  Born in Saint John on August 22, 1956, she was a daughter of Joan (Darrah) Johnston and the late Burton Johnston.  Joanne loved spending time at her cottage with her family, as well as reading, curling, and travelling. 

In addition to her husband and to her Mother, Joanne is survived by her son Michael; her daughters Heather and Kathleen; her sister, Colleen Arseneau (Peter) and her brother Frederick Johnston (Sheri Ingersoll), both of Saint John; her father-in-law, James Owens of Saint John; a sister-in-law, Alexis Vriezen (Chris) of Quispamsis; nieces and nephews Jed, Cody, Sarah, and Brett Johnston, Alex Vriezen, and Rose Anne Nadeau and her family; and many close friends.  Joanne was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Johnston; her mother-in-law, Joan Owens; and by her niece, Jessica Johnston.

Although there will be no visitation, relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 12:00 Noon from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Rothesay.  Interment will take place at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery.  For those who wish, remembrances to the Kennebecasis Valley Food Basket or the Toronto Sick Kids Hospital would be appreciated by the family.  Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).  Online condolences and remembrances may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com.

Enjoying beautiful memories of Joanne and Rothesay Elementary School. We shared more than a few years on the Home and School - had many laughs, cooked about a million hot dogs and sold too many rolls of Christmas wrapping paper to remember!
